The Osea Malibu’s Undaria Algae Body Oil easily earns our highest Clean Ingredient Score of an “A+” for it’s all-natural and almost entirely organic body oil formulation. With the exception of natural (non-gmo) vitamin E, the Undaria Algae Oil is made with all organic ingredients such as undaria algae, and a blend of plant oils such as sunflower, acai, linseed, babassu, rice bran, passion fruit, sesame seed, lime, grapefruit, and cypress oils. The formula is made with a blend of carrier and essential oils which have naturally long shelf lives; thus, only a small amount of vitamin E is used as a preservative for this body oil. The Undaria Algae Body Oil is gluten-free, vegan, GMO free, cruelty-free, and made with all natural ingredients.

  • Algae Extract: Chlorophyll containing ocean dwelling organisms. Contains a plethora of potent vitamins, minerals, and nutrients. Known for its ability to help skin retain a lot of moisture (an alternative to hyaluronic acid). For this body oil, Osea Malibu uses a brown marine algae named Undaria Pinnatifida that is rich in iodine, potassium, calcium, and fucoidan (a compound used for its healing properties).
  • Acai Pulp Oil: A fast absorbing, antioxidant-rich oil derived from cold-pressed acai berry seeds. Commonly used in skin care and cosmetics for its emollient, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties.
  • Babassu Seed Oil: An antioxidant rich fruit seed oil packed with collagen boosting phytosterols, as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial compounds.
  • Passion Fruit Seed Oil: Derived from the seeds of passion fruit, this oil is used in skin care primarily because it contains high concentrations of anti-aging vitamins such as vitamins C and vitamin A.
  • Sesame Seed Oil: Derived form sesame seeds. Sesame oil has been used in skin care for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties.

As one of our top scoring organic body oil’s year after year, the Undaria Algae Body Oil earns a Product Design & Effectiveness Score of an “A+” for its silky, moisturizing, and pleasantly scented body oil for all skin types. The first thing worth noting about the Undaria Algae Oil is the scent. This oil has an unmistakable lime/citrus scent that is uplifting without being overwhelming (although, the scent is fairly noticeable). The texture of this body oil is rich enough to hydrate and protect dry skin, while also being lightweight enough to easily absorb into damp or dry skin. While this body oil is non-greasy (the oil absorbs easily), it does leave a light sheen/glow on the skin that most reviewers welcomed. The Undaria Oil does a great job at leaving a protective barrier on the skin (to lock moisture in) without leaving skin oily or sticky. We tested this organic body oil on two acne-prone testers who rated the oil highly. The combination of antibacterial and anti-inflammatory oils in this blend actually make it a great choice for acne-prone skin.

The Undaria Algae Body Oil earned an Online Customer Review score of 4.8/5 stars across all retailers. Overall, customers loved the “lightweight” feel of the oil and how fast it absorbed. Reviewers raved about the oil’s ability to make their skin feel smooth, hydrated, but not greasy. There were comments from sensitive skin types claiming that the oil worked well for their normally reactive skin.
