30 Best Natural Face Moisturizers of 2021 for Every Skin Type
Looking for a natural, organic, and gentle face moisturizer, but don’t know which organic products are legitimate? Need a hydrating organic facial moisturizer for the dry winter months that actually works? Just want to drool over pretty pictures of skin care products for fun? Either way, you’ve come to the right place!
The term “organic” means a lot of things to a lot of people. Organic simply means something that is grown without genetic modification, pesticides, chemical fertilizers + solvents, dyes, sewage sludge, or ionizing radiation. Just because something is organic doesn’t necessarily mean that it is safe. In reality, very few skin care products contain 100% organic ingredients (even USDA certified organic products can contain as little as 95% organic material). Additionally, a product can market itself as “organic” while only containing a tiny amount of organically grown ingredients + a lot of cheap fillers. With so much ambiguity, it is important to carefully research the claims, ingredients, and companies behind each organic product—and that’s what we’ve done for this article!
We’ve researched hundreds of products to bring you this ultimate list of face moisturizers. All organic moisturizers on this list are made by reputable skin care brands, contain effective natural + organic ingredients, have a strong history of satisfied customer reviews, and are free from ingredients like Parabens, Phthalates, Sulfates, PEG compounds, Petrochemicals & Mineral Oils, Synthetic fragrances + colors, and Ethoxylated. We also selected SPF moisturizers which use non-nano compounds for sunscreen protection.
Determining the best organic moisturizer for your face will depend upon your skin type and condition. Dry skin types should look for ingredients like rich organic oils (like coconut, avocado, argan, and olive oil), antioxidants, and hyaluronic acid (a powerful humectant that pulls moisture from the air into the skin). Those with oily skin will benefit from oil-free moisturizers, or moisturizers which contain ingredients like clay (absorbs oil) or oil-balancing oils like jojoba, grapeseed, sunflower, and carrot seed oil. Your skin is unique, so be sure to read the reviews and ingredients for each organic moisturizer carefully to find the best one for your particular skin needs. For the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, you have two different products pictured. Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil (only ingredient: rosehip oil) or Trilogy Rosehip Oil Antioxidant Plus (ingredients: rosehip oil and oils)? Which product are you recommending?
Thanks for the catch! We will fix this. We are recommending the Pure Certified Organic Rosehip Oil with only rosehip oil. Rosehip oil is a fantastic moisturizer all on its own.
trying to look for face moisturizer. after i take a shower my face gets really dry and since i always go to the beach it gets dry but when i wake up in the morning my face is really oily. what would you recomment i get for my face?
If your skin is dry most of the day and only oily when you wake up (before you wash your face), then perhaps shop for a dry-skin moisturizer since it’s not bothersome to have oily skin at night correct?
That was an impressive and awesome list! Thank you for doing to research and more importantly sharing!
Eminence organic bright skin moisturizer has an ingredient called Octinoxate 6%. This ingredient is an endocrine disruptor. This product should not be listed as safe on your website.
Hi Deborah—You are absolutely correct. We are removing all Eminence products from our site in 2020 for quality concerns.
Is there a mositerizer that doesn’t have coconut oil since that makes me break out and afordable too.
The OSEA Atmosphere Protection Cream doesn’t have coconut oil and is one of our favorites!
That is good article. Your article is very informative. The article of Best Organic Face Moisturizers The Complete List is useful for me and for anyone who read this i think. Thank you so much for the information.
Love your articles. I’ve seen great reviews for annmarie products in this guide before-any reason they didn’t make the list?
Yes! Annmarie is great, but they don’t make a proper moisturizer. Instead, we’ve featured them on our Best Face Oils & Serums articles!
Hello, I was wondering if you could recommend a face moisture from the above that is both alcohol free and oil free. I recently developed perioral dermatitis and my skin is very super sensitive. The area is very dry after I wash my face and sometimes it gets really itchy but no matter what moisture I use, I always feel it burning immediately after. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Thanks for this helpful guidance, i am told at my age i need enzymes in night creams, some kind of hylauronic acid or glycerine for wrinkles and vitamin c in day time….and retinol ? Out of curiosity…what are you thoughts on the Earth Harbor Mermaid Milk, LXMI Pore-refining Moisturizer and the Welda Skin Food Moisturizer? I was looking for some good moisturizers and came across these three but then came across your list. Just wanted to know your honest, experienced opinion. Thank you
